Burnt effect on Kraft paper, image transfer, resin on canvas

The theme
for this individual project that I decided to do is about time. For me, the
definition for print is to record something specific and sometimes that only can
be record at that moment. We do remember every moment that are very special like anniversary, birthday, but how about those little simple moment? Like painting a portrait in class today, carving a sculpture this morning, those moment looks very simple, or even bored, could we found some fun or meaning within these moments? The reason I started with people whom surrounding me is to show that even we being in a same place, doing things that alike, what at the same moment what people think, feel are totally different.
Through this idea I started to took photos for people around me and asked them to wrote down their thoughts, feelings, or whatever they wanted to record at that moment in a piece of Kraft paper. I used PVA glue on canvas and paste the photo on it and wait until
it completely dry, and start to rub the surface that added some water with my
finger. I set the camera setting into black and white and took their photo whether they posed for me or without looking at me, it is because I wanted to
took their most natural and comfortable moment which represent their "that
moment". I decided to choose this method it is because the way and when I rub
off the surface of the photos is like developing film in the old way and the
process was quite fun actually. The effect that some part of the photos that
accidentally rub off looks like film’s photo was quite interesting.
I added
some resin on the canvas like water drops is to represent that time froze at
that moment. As I requested each person started with ‘This moment’ in the sentences.
The burnt effect that I applied on the Kraft paper is to represent the memories that corrupted by time at that moment.
With every pieces the notes that wrote by them I asked them to jot down their
time and date to shows that every different moment with every different people.
I decided
to hang every pieces with different height of eye level to show like they stop
at the moment they drop. And to create a space while they hanging around to let
people got space to get in and they can flip to look at the people’s photos and to read the notes they wrote at that moment.
